The new green energy skilling centre was inaugurated by Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, and Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power.

The launch event saw the participation of senior officials from MNRE, NITI Aayog, REC, NCVET, Tata Power, and Tata Power Delhi Distribution.

The Green Energy Skilling Centre in Delhi is the 12th full-fledged TPSDI training hub in the country and is housed within the Cenpeid campus, Tata Power-DDL’s premier training facility. It will offer hands-on, practical training tailored to India’s growing demand for skilled professionals in the renewable energy sector.

Green Energy Skilling Centre to Offer Practical Training

TPSDI’s curriculum is aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) and NCVET-approved Qualification Packs, ensuring high standards and national recognition.

These courses are designed to support initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, which promotes solar energy adoption across the country.

Over the past 10 years, TPSDI has trained more than 3.43 lakh individuals, delivering 1.3 million person-days of training. The institute has empowered over 50,000 learners from affirmative action groups and more than 18,000 women, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive growth and sustainability.

Plans are underway to establish new hubs in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Cuttack, along with eight additional centres by the end of the year.

Industry-Aligned Learning for a Green Future

TPSDI is affiliated with the Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC) and the Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ) and is among the first private institutions to be recognized as a dual awarding body by NCVET.

The institute offers over 200 modular courses across domains such as Green Energy, Power Systems, Safety, T&D, and Soft Skills.

Its unique blend of life-sized industrial models, simulators, virtual reality tools, and the Virtual Academy of Skills ensures trainees are equipped with both technical know-how and real-world experience.

In addition to domestic training, TPSDI has expanded its skilling programs internationally in countries such as Bhutan, Ethiopia, and Liberia.

The newly launched Green Energy Skilling Centres in Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and now Delhi are at the forefront of this initiative, preparing India’s youth for jobs in solar, wind, hydro, and emerging areas like green hydrogen.
